Does Mobile have a Place in the Classroom?

Mobile devices have been seen as the bad guy in schools for quite some time now, and administration has fought long and hard to stop kids from bringing their beloved smartphones to class (I definitely endured a gloomy detention or two back in the day for texting during Calc). I think we can all agree that mobile devices can certainly play a negative role in school (they can be a major distraction, facilitate bullying/other inappropriate behaviors, the list goes on..), but the reality is that they are not going anywhere. Diane Barry, an 8th grade Spanish teacher describes prohibiting kids from using their phones as “an uphill battle that can never be won, but if kids can put aside their desire to text, check e-mail, and watch Netflix, mobile devices can be a great tool for everyone”. This is perhaps indicative of the fact that it’s time to start embracing smartphones and tablets in school and explore what kind of benefits they can offer in this previously controversial setting. The spread of technology is only going to increase, especially amongst youth, so if you can’t beat them, join them.

Is Creating an App for my Business an Option or a Necessity?

A few years ago, creating an app for one’s business was something only for the most dedicated of techies—it would surely set you apart from your competition, but it was nowhere in the realms of your customers’ automatic expectations. Nowadays, without an app you are easily set apart from your competition in the complete opposite direction; customers may not even bother with your company if it is not available to them through a smartphone-friendly channel. To further understand why having an app is a huge advantage to your business, and what you risk by not having one, read on.

How to create a good app for a news website?

A few days ago, I was talking with Jerome and Arianna about the frequently asked questions we receive from our users, and about the subjects we should handle on this blog to answer these questions. We've realized that you now have quite a bit of experience with our service and you have created apps for wide range of contents. So instead of talking about the technical aspects of the creation of an app, about which you surely already know tons, I decided talk about how to organize your contents in order to deliver the best possible user experience. In this article, I'll give you some insight on what is the best way to plan and design your app. The first and most important thing you should know is who your readers are, so you can find the best way to arrange and structure your app.

Highlight the content that attracts your readers

Your app is designed to give access to your content in a fluid, efficient, mobile-friendly user interface. So, what you want to do first, when you put content into your app, is to sync the last published posts of your website.   We also already talked about adding filters to show categories or on predefined searches, in order to refine your app's content.   But, do you think you really know what really catches your readers attention? GoodBarber knows :) A good way to enhance the user experience in your app is to push content that has already been proven to be popular content!   You've probably already noticed the Popular section in your GoodBarber backend. Its goal is exactly to display your most popular content. We'll review together everything that you should know to use it efficiently.

Twitter On Your App

Enhance your application with your tweets, and allow your readers to reply or retweet you directly from your application. Our goal is to enable you to combine all of your content sources in one single application, and to offer an exciting and unique experience for your readers. Integrating Twitter with GoodBarber was planned on our roadmap . For several days, your back office Sources page has included a space for Twitter. It’s extremely simple: you have to click twice. Your live thread is displayed on the application, and the “Reply” and “Retweet” options are available.
