A lot of people find the idea of changing the domain on their GoodBarber project appealing as it allows them to build a stronger image without the presence of another brand. GoodBarber doesn't sell domain names, you'll have to purchase one from an external provider if you want to take advantage of this option, and you'll then be able to configure it from your provider's platform and install it in your GoodBarber backend as you'll be using our servers.  Setting up a new domain name can look a bit daunting for first-timers, but it's no big deal. Take a look at some basic info you need to know and some of the most common issues users struggle with to avoid common pitfalls. 

Over 13 million people in 144 countries participated in World Cleanup Day this September 15th. Initiated by Natacha, our iOS developer, the GoodBarber team got together to be a part of this worldwide event. We chose to clean up the roadside area of one of the main highways in Ajaccio, where our headquarters are located. 

This morning, the technicians at OVH (our internet access provider) were working on the data center switches where the GoodBarber and WMaker servers are located. An incorrect configuration was installed on these machines, triggering a bug. The result was that our internet access was immediately cut off. 

Apple devices are constantly evolving and pushing the limits of extraordinary user experience. The end of 2017 marked a turning point in Apple smartphone design with the release of the iPhone X, because apart from incredible resolution, this new iPhone boasts an ultra-immersive screen, covering almost the entire surface of the smartphone. 

It's back to school at GoodBarber! As you know, we never stop working on improvements to allow you to go further with your apps, and August was no different.  Below you'll find a summary of developments and updates made throughout August 2018:

A few years ago, there was no doubt that native apps were the best way to get content out there on mobile. A native app is made to work exclusively on your phone, in the most integrated way possible. However, since about two years ago, Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) have been disrupting the norms that native established. Certain big-time apps like Facebook or AirBnB have changed their minds on their choice of technology for offering the best user experience on mobile. 

You're well aware of all the advantages and potential Progressive Web Apps have to offer. If you've already created your PWA or you're planning to do so, this article is for you. GoodBarber allows you to access statistics concerning traffic generated by your PWA that will allow you to better understand your users' behavior and to adapt accordingly.  Two types of stats are available to you: internal statistics, accessible in your back office once your PWA is published, and external statistics.  Let's take a deeper look.

A few months ago the Cambridge Analytica scandal occurred. This British company, specializing in large scale data analysis and communications consulting, was accused of using 87 million Facebook users' data without their knowledge for political marketing purposes.    Facebook, who ended up in the middle of all the turmoil, made the decision to entirely remodel its policy concerning the protection of its users' data. The goal of this approach was obviously to reinforce security, especially with regards to user data shared with third party applications.  Personal data security has been a major issue in 2018, so Facebook's solutions are not surprising. This will have some impact on your GoodBarber application, if you use a Facebook connector in one of your pages. 

It's time to introduce you to the latest version of one of our advanced add-ons: Live +  For those who aren't familiar with this add-on, it's an audio player that allows you to broadcast an M3U feed and to display metadata associated with the track being played, such as the title, name of the artist, and album cover. 

With GoodBarber 4.5, we bet everything on your productivity. We thought about the best way for you to take advantage of the power of GoodBarber as intuitively as possible.   One of the biggest changes is the separation of the Content and Design menus.   Now, you are managing your content in one dedicated menu. Thus, the structure of your app is immediately shown when you enter the Content menu. The panel allows you to see, at a glance, the organization of your pages. Moreover, to be able to edit your content from the beginning to end on the same screen, a new Content tab has been created at the top of the screen when you select the page you want to work on. When you click on that tab, you go from the page preview to the editor, on a full page. Create, modify, and organize your items from this new space, and preview your changes with one click.     Let’s review the new way to create your content together.

Summer is almost here and, with the launch of GoodBarber 4.5, it’s time to publish one of the themes you love. Allow me to introduce the theme Venice! You were already familiar with Sunset or Stardust. You probably guessed that May 2018 was a busy month, mainly because of the release of GoodBarber 4.5, the all-new version of our platform. As we announced a few days ago, April was marked by big news for Progressive Web App enthusiasts: Service Worker compatibility with iOS!  The compatibility of this script with iOS opens the doors to a number of development possibilities and allows PWAs to live up to all of their promises on Apple devices using Safari.
